Meetings from Quilting My Way

This morning, I wanted to enjoy a few minutes of time to myself. Then I had to get a few things done for the meeting at the museum.

I left around 10:10 am and stopped at the post office. I was able to get the package out in the mail. Then I went to Dutch Brothers.

Next stop was the museum for our meeting. A few were there before I got there. I was a little late, considering I wanted to be there around 10;30 am. It was a good meeting. We ate and then talked about what ...

Presentation Day! from Quilting My Way

Today, I was all set for the presentation. It's been almost 2 months since we had a presentation, and we all were looking forward to it. We have our meeting next week and the following week is our sew days. We will see what we can get done.

But today was a good day for presentation. Mom knew 2 of the veterans personally, so she was excited about giving at least one of the quilts away. We had 6 quilts that were brought down from Bellevue and presented by the gals that made the quilts. I let them know ...

Sew Days At The House from Quilting My Way

This morning, I was up and ready for quilters. I ended up waiting a little longer than I expected. We had a couple of them that couldn't make it, but we did get a new person. So, all in all it was a good time.

Only 3 of them were sewing, the other 3 of us were cutting and ironing.

This is the rail and nine patch. We didn't get it done, but we did get about half of it done. It takes forever on the 6" nine patches. It will get done in January when we meet ...

Back To Being At Home from Quilting My Way

This morning, I enjoyed sleeping in a bit. Not a lot but a bit.

Yesterday was a long day with traveling in the airplane and airports. It's not my favorite thing to do, but it went really well. We did have to be de-iced before we left Louisville, because it was starting to snow. Then we waited a bit before we could take off. We were about 30 minutes late. Once we were on our way, it was nice.

We arrived at DFW airport. OMG! That place is worse than any airport I have been in. I thought Houston ...

Presentation Day from Quilting My Way

This morning, I really didn't do much. I was waiting till it was time to leave for the museum. We had a presentation for veterans today.

Debbie and I arrived first, and the others where right behind us. I was surprised that so many of the group arrived early. This group of ours is so wonderful! They work well together, and things are going so smoothly. I can't believe how nice it is to do these presentations without drama!

They were Brandon Planert, Army, Laurel Boyd Maddox, Army, Cragg Parks, Navy, James Radford Inabnit, Marine Corps, Steven Keeling ...

Quilts of Valor Presentation Day from Quilting My Way

Today, I got ready for the presentation. Debbie called and needed a ride, so I picked her up. Then we went to Dutch Brothers for our drinks. Headed to the museum and it looked like there was stuff going on. We didn't mess with the "drama" as we were there for the veterans.

Marilyn came down from Tacoma to help honor our veterans. She helped present the quilts. It was awesome.

Kenneth Proske, Kathleen Powell (sister to Kenneth) are on the left. I can't remember the next 4 and the one on the end, but they were Lester ...

Today, I needed to get moving early. I ended up working on our Facebook page this morning. I was surprised to find several people are now on the FB page. I just worked on it last night and this morning. at least I added the veterans that were awarded a quilt today.

They were - not in order -

Meeting Day At The Museum from Quilting My Way

Today we had our meeting and then Saturday we will have our presentation for our veterans. I need to work on getting another FB page going for our group. I will try and work on that tomorrow or this weekend. I seem to have a ton of stuff to do. At least some of the scraps went out the door and will be worked on by members. We still have more, but those quilts will help when they are done. I may end up doing a couple of them. I need to get one done for the museum to auction ...

Power Out Yesterday - Trip To Olympia Today from Quilting My Way

Yesterday when I was ready to post my blog, we lost power. It was out for 6 hours due to a truck hitting the power pole.

So, yesterday started out with me going to Dutch Brothers for tea and coffee. We had a presentation that went very well. The ones we honored were a lot of fun. We did have one guy that didn't show though. He will hopefully be there in July.

Presentation Day As Well As Keeping Busy from Quilting My Way

This morning, Patrick was off to golfing. I played my game - War of Worlds and we won. Then I got ready to leave. We had our presentation today.

I called Debbie and said I was going to Panda for lunch. Asked her if she wanted to join me. She did, so I ended up waiting for her to get there. Then we sat and had lunch. Once that was done, I gave her the quilts to take to the museum while I went to get our coffee/tea.

I arrived to find Debbie putting the quilts away. We pulled the ...

April Presentation Day from Quilting My Way

Today was presentation day. I was ready and out the door. I had to go to the post office for Connie. I also needed to do a couple other things. Then I was at the museum.

It was awesome and calm this time. It felt good to not have tension today. I did get a message from Kaiser just before the presentation and waited to check it out.

We had 3 of the 4 veterans show. William Schwall didn't show and we had both his quilts for him. We will have to try and get him next month. We ...

Presentation Day from Quilting My Way

This morning, I was up early. Just couldn't sleep well. I did sleep till about 6 am but after that was useless.

I headed over to the museum to get our presentation done. We needed to be done by 2 pm for Smiley's Birthday party. Our volunteer ended up doing 10 veterans for the first time. He did an awesome job.

They were a lot of fun!

After the presentation, Smiley's party started. They came up early. We didn't even get a chance to remove our tablecloth before they started putting the food down. So, I ...

Snowed All Day from Quilting My Way

This morning, I was getting ready to head to the museum for our presentation. At the time I left, it started to snow. We were at the museum around 11:15 am. It was coming down fast.

Two veterans canceled and one called to see if we were still having it. I told her it would be quick and not to bother coming in. This is bad for our area and people around here don't know how to drive in this. We were just getting ready to do the presentation at noon when Chip said to get everyone out ...

Presentation Day from Quilting My Way

This morning, I was up and not ready for the day to start. I did get moving though because I needed to get to the museum for our presentation.

First, I needed to get my rugs from the bathroom into the washing machine, since I got water on the one while in the shower. Then I started putting the ornaments on the tree away. Patrick had asked the other day, and I wasn't in the mood to keep it up, since I hadn't been in the spirit last year. I also got busy on getting the stuff ready ...

A Special Presentation from Quilting My Way

Today I needed to get a few Christmas cards out. I still need to do a few more. As I was writing my cousin Cindy's card, she sent me a text wishing us a Merry Christmas.  Too funny how we tend to do that with each other.

Then it was off to the museum for a special presentation.  We honored Lee Boling and Roger Gonzales.

Mrs. Braun made their quilts,  so I had her sign the quilts as well. We honored her husband as well. It was awesome.

We had a cake made for them because of it being ...

Meeting Today from Quilting My Way

This morning I picked up some hot/cold pads for Patrick.  He hurt his back and is having trouble moving around. Then I picked Debbie up to go to our meeting.

Our group had a good talk, I believe.  We went over a lot. It ended up being 2 1/2 hours. I think we can move forward in a good way. I need to do somethings to keep the group up on what's going on and they need to do more as well.

Came home to find my box of beads waiting for me.

I went through the ...

Honored A Veteran Today from Quilting My Way

I got up, took my walk around the neighborhood.  Was able to get 5 laps in before I need to pick Debbie up. We had an appointment with Chip and Sam at 10 am. We stopped first to pick up our drinks.

We arrived to find the museum busy.  We waited on Chip for our meeting.  While we waited, we found out our Recruiter that got missed at our Presentation was there. He is being reassigned to TX. So we took the time and got him presented with a quilt. It was awesome to give him a quilt.  I didn ...

Presentation Day from Quilting My Way

Patrick was gone when I got up. He went golfing.

I headed to the museum for our presentation.  We had a good turn out with 3 active duty members getting their quilts.  The other active duty gentleman couldn't make it. So we did the guy that was given to Mt Rainier to award. Good thing Cindy was there. She even help present pins to Vietnam Veterans.

The gentleman in the middle knew her friend that is on the MIA list. It was a shock to everyone her telling the story of her friend and finding out they went to ...

A Visit To The Museum from Quilting My Way

Patrick went golfing. I went with Debbie to check our stack of quilts. We spent the morning going over our quilts, cleaned up our area in the museum and got the pillowcases stacked by white or off white.  We put the raffle stuff together.  It worked out great. We then figured the 2 quilts that the Mossyrock group said they needed. Waiting for her to get back to us.  Picked up 3 quilt tops that were dropped off.

Came home and cut the backing and batting for all three. Debbie took one to quilt. Will get Colleen to do the ...

A Week Of Appointments from Quilting My Way

This morning it felt good to sleep in and little. I did some cleaning and picking up. Then went walking.

While I was getting my walk in I had to make phone calls to fix a mess with our group.  I believe it's solved but not sure.  Time will tell on this.

Then it was time to head to Olympia for yet another doctor appointment.  This time it was my oncology appointment.  My mammogram was Tuesday and the good news is there wasn't any sign of cancer. Now I am scheduled for another 3 month check up. After ...
